FROM THE PAGES OF MANTUA

Donato Carrisi and Corneliani at the new edition of Festivaletteratura

Mantua, September the 7th, 2023 - Corneliani's deep bond with its region and its native city is an ongoing source of inspiration that seamlessly weaves the brand's craftsmanship and excellence with the cultural and historical beauty of one of Italy's most revered cities of art. Mantua - where the company headquarters is located - is the city of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Verdi's Rigoletto, the city of Monteverdi's Orpheus, considered the first true opera ever, and the city that since 1997 hosts the Festivaletteratura, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year, which attracts authors and artists from all over the world.

Like every year, Corneliani will join the five days of performances, readings and concerts as a partner of the event, dressing the master of the Italian thriller Donato Carrisi to create an exclusive combination of tailored style and literary elegance; a crossover between different yet kindred worlds.

“We are honored to welcome an exceptional author like Donato Carrisi to one of Mantua's most prestigious cultural events,” commented Corneliani CEO Giorgio Brandazza. "The bond between Corneliani and its city embodies one of the company's enduring values, and its active role as a sponsor of the Festivaletteratura reconfirms our mission to support the growth of our territory and community every day".

Donato Carrisi will recite his scenic narrative, specially conceived for Festivaletteratura, L'Educazione della Paura (Education about Fear) on the stage of Piazza Castello on Thursday, September 7, at 9:30 p.m.

An unprecedented lecture on fear and its nuances, delivered by the one of the most esteemed writers ever, author of multiple international bestsellers, recipient of the Bancarella Prize in 2009 for “The Whisperer”, and of the David di Donatello Award in 2018 for best emerging director with “The Girl in the Fog”.

A literary event here introduced by the author's insights into the concept of elegance, in life and in writing: “There are two types of elegance: innate or learned … something that you acquire over time. I, for example, inherited it by admiring my grandfather's wardrobe. It really depends to a certain extent on culture. It is highly unlikely for someone devoid of culture to also be elegant”, Carrisi commented. And when asked “What makes a book elegant”?, he answers “I would rather talk about the elegance of a narrative. If the storyline is elegant, the book is also elegant. Besides, I believe that the most elegant books are revealed over time, something we don't realise straight away. Sometimes, elegance also needs to mature.”

The Author

Donato Carrisi (born in Martina Franca in 1973) lives between Rome and Milan. He is a writer, director, and screenwriter for television series and cinema, as well as a contributor to Corriere della Sera.
