Ike Edeani Interview

Each month we ask a photographer to picture a Corneliani Travel Jacket - the iconic overshirt-  somewhere in the world. These shots were taken in Venice by Ike Edeani, a photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. With a background in design before pursuing photography, his editorials – featured in the likes of GQ, Esquire and Time – capture a wholly contemporary yet intimate mood, whether in the studio or the far-flung destinations he travels.

Where did you take these pictures?

Ike Edeani: «Venice, Italy».

Who’s wearing the Travel shirt-jacket?

Ike Edeani: «Myself, Ike Edeani».

What was the mood you were trying to convey?

Ike Edeani: «The feeling of a cool fall morning in Cannaregio».

What do you like about the location?

Ike Edeani: «I love the way the light moves through the city, shafts and angles playing off the buildings and the water, which itself reflects all of the colour and adds a constant movement».

What do you like about travelling?

Ike Edeani: «Being in unfamiliar physical spaces, and immersing myself in cultures different from my own».

What are the key things you always pack?

Ike Edeani: «A few cameras, lots of film, and comfortable shoes».

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to fellow travellers?

Ike Edeani: «Take public transportation if you can, and walk places as often as possible – it’s the best way to properly see a new city».

Do you have a packing tip?

Ike Edeani: «Pack all your essentials for the flight in a small pouch or Dopp kit. It’ll make your life much easier while boarding».

Hand luggage or check-in?

Ike Edeani: «Hand luggage, always».

How did the Corneliani Travel jacket do – what’s your review of it?

Ike Edeani: «Comfortable, stylish and very functional, I also like the Wooltech fabric».
