Edd Horder Interview
Each month we ask a photographer to picture a Corneliani Travel Jacket - the iconic overshirt- somewhere in the world. These shots, including self portraits, were taken by photographer Edd Horder in London, where he views the city from a lesser-seen and entirely unique perspective: on the river.
Where did you take these pictures?
Edd Horder: «These photos were taken of myself at home where we are living at the moment. We are on a houseboat on the Thames in London».
What was the mood you were trying to convey?
Edd Horder: «The mood I was hoping to convey is just the mood we live. In London, we are lucky enough to have the viewpoint, light, open skies and surprisingly plentiful nature around us, as well as everything a major city has to offer».
What do you like about the location?
Edd Horder: «The feeling of shutting yourself off from the city. Once on board and the doors are closed, it feels as if we are in our own little oasis of calm: a world away from the busy life just outside the front door».
What do you like about travelling?
Edd Horder: «The eternal feeling of exploration. Even if we have been to the same place over and over, you always experience something different, something new, a changed perspective. It's that feeling of discovery that keeps us exploring the world».
What are the key things you always pack?
Edd Horder: «A toothbrush, some boxer shorts and a copy of The Week. All bases covered».
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to fellow travellers?
Edd Horder: «Always walk around a little when you get somewhere to really feel the place and the local lifestyle. It’s easy to go straight to the touristy spots and the beach, but it doesn’t give you a real flavour of real life. That's where you meet the most interesting people».
Do you have a packing tip?
Edd Horder: «Roll your clothes – they pack up a lot smaller».
Hand luggage or check-in?
Edd Horder: «Check-in. As lovely as walking straight off the plane is, you sometimes need a little more than a toothbrush and a laptop».
How did the Corneliani Travel jacket do – what’s your review of it?
Edd Horder: «It did rather well, fitted like a glove, and is the perfect jacket to chuck in a bag for all occasions. If you are a cabin luggage type of person, this is your jacket to do it all».
