Adam Whitehead Interview
Each month we ask a photographer to picture a Corneliani Travel Jacket - the iconic overshirt- somewhere in the world. These shots, including self-portraits, were taken by British photographer Adam Whitehead in Applecross, a small and rugged town in the highlands of Scotland.
Where did you take these pictures?
Adam Whitehead: «These pictures were taken on a family holiday in Applecross. Applecross is a peninsula on the very northwest coast of Scotland. It overlooks the Isle of Raasey and the Isle of Skye to the west».
Who’s wearing the Travel shirt-jacket?
Adam Whitehead: « I was wearing the jacket throughout our trip. We were blessed with some warm weather, so I wore it on some long beach walks and for some lovely evening dinners in our local pub».
What was the mood you were trying to convey?
Adam Whitehead: «The freedom you feel in Applecross is hard to portray in photographs. The stunning landscape and simple architecture truly inspires».
What do you like about the location?
Adam Whitehead: «Applecross is one of the most beautiful places in Scotland: raw, magnificent and almost otherworldly. The village can only be accessed by the 626-metre-high Bealach na Bà pass or an hour-long coastal trip around the peninsula. You feel deeply connected to the area as soon as you arrive».
What do you like about travelling?
Adam Whitehead: « First and foremost, travel resets the mind. Getting away from daily life to see new things helps remind us that we have so much to be thankful for».
What are the key things you always pack?
Adam Whitehead: «If travelling by air, Ilike to travel light: a camera and some swimming trunks are a must. Travelling byland, I always take my bike!».
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to fellow travellers?
Adam Whitehead: «Leave time and don’t rush. Enjoy every moment».
Do you have a packing tip?
Adam Whitehead: «Pack light and keep it simple».
Hand luggage or check-in?
Adam Whitehead: «Hand luggage, I’ve lost too many bags».
